Wickenby Aerodrome
Wickenby Aereodrome

Royal Air Force Station Wickenby  or  RAF Wickenby  was a purpose built Royal Air Force station constructed late 1942 and early 1943. It lies halfway between Wickenby and Holton, to the south-east of Wickenby close to the B1399 in West Lindsey, 8 NM (15 km; 9.2 mi) north-east of Lincoln, England.

The Watch Office is the home of the RAF Wickenby Memorial Collection and the Wickenby Archive, a collection of memorabilia and archive dedicated to the memory of the Squadrons who served here.

A friendly aerodrome which has much history. Wickenby Airfield was put forward for the award by Aviation Heritage Lincolnshire (AHL) because it felt the site needed some recognition. A mystery shopper then visited the airfield and was impressed by the facilities. The opening hours are 9-5pm daily. There is not always a volunteer on site, so if you would like to look at the archive or meet with a volunteer then please contact them on 01673 885000. A café is available at the airfield, as well as AVGAS and JET A1. Radio is 122.450 but all inbound aircraft are asked to contact RAF Waddington on 127.350, as well as speaking with them before climbing above 1500ft QFE outbound.
